Harvest Report - France

The ides of harvest season are upon us - With it, we bear bountiful news from our friends in France

Last year an indecisive and temperamental weather pattern was the subject of ailment for the Loire valley. This year a particularly dry season has left us all with bated breath, unsure of what Mother Nature might have in store for us during harvest.

However, the growers at Domaine Des Fines Caillottes bring great news as they begin their harvest. Despite the drought conditions, the vines have yielded fruit of superior quality and abundant juice.

In the domaines of Burgundy, the growers at Corrinne Et Jean Pierre Grossot successfully wrapped up their harvest on 09/08.

They report excellent fruit maturity and quantity. Fermentation is underway, with all native yeast, and without difficulty.

Lastly, word has arrived from Domaine Jean-Baptiste Lebreuil.

After ten days of fair weather and without an ounce of rain in sight, harvest was completed on 09/08. All fruit has been gathered in healthy condition with no selection necessary.

Some notes on their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay below:

Pinot Noir: Excellent maturity and more juice than expected.
Chardonnay: Excellent maturity but less juice due to the dryness

"Magnificent, exceptional quality. A rare vintage that has both quality and quantity.”
